Zebbadiesel
Ok, I have an 87 gl hatch that's got all the 84 stuff, 4spd, ea81 and the rear height adjuster, I'm a little tired of the 4 speed, and looking for a 5. I'm not trying to do an ej swap or put the ea82 in, I have a ea81 that's ready to be built and when I put it in I want to put a 5spd. So I've been looking locally as I'm not in a huge rush, and I found an ea81 for sale with what it supposed to be a 5spd d/r trans, I'm trying to get the model numbers off it when he can, he says its 4.44 gear ratio tho, and on wiki they have a list of all subie trannys and the only one I saw that was close was a justy 5spd that was a 4.43... Or something like that. What can anyone tell me about it? Any info you need just post here and I'll ask the guy
bratman18
EA transmissions never cam in 4.44. The EJ auto transmission in Forester and Outbacks as well as 5spd turbo Foresters, came in 4.44. Unless someone did a swap already, if it's attached to a 4spd, its either a 2wd 5spd trans, or a 4wd 4spd.
skishop69
There was never a 4.11 or 4.44 EA82 trans. 3.70 or 3.90 was it. What is he claiming it out of? Those are EJ ratios and will not adapt to an EA series engine.

Zebbadiesel
He claims he pulled it himself, it was married to an ea81 in a 84 dl, sorry i forgot that info, meant to put it originally, I haven't had a chance to go look at it yet but on the wiki list there's only one 5 spd made for the ea81
Zebbadiesel
And another slightly off topic question, on my ea81 gl, I'm replacing the clutch this weekend, the last time I was in my motor I noticed the throw out bearing holder wouldn't seperate from the bearing, my question is do I have to pull one from a junkyard or is there somewhere I can order one because normal part stores don't carry it
Zebbadiesel
Oh and the tube bumpers you see on brats, are they a subie stock thing or was there a company making them? I want to get one but they're more rare than hens teeth I guess. I'm sorry if these are all questions you're tired of, I'm kinda new to ru's
