Central locking into a 92 brumby, turn signals?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've got a stereo/remote Central locking install under way and I need some help! Seem to have the actuators positioned happily and I can figure most of it out, but I need to connect the central locking kit to the turn signals/indicators.

There are two wires from the kit that are meant to connect for this, I assume one for each side, but I don't know where it's best to attach them or how to find the right wires. Anyone done a remote Central locking install who can help me out? I can take a picture of the indicator wires running from the switch down the steering column if that helps...

If this goes well I might sneakily add power windows while everything's apart!

Thanks,

Steve

Depending on where you mount the control unit, I would splice them into that plug coming out of the steering column ...
However if you want to get more adventurous and pull out the fuse box & find the related circuit then it could be spliced off there ... B)

You'll need a wiring diagram to help identify circuits - there's one on  here somewhere ... ;)

Cheers, Bantum ...

Easiest way to find those wires would be to get a multimeter or test light (will need an extra length of wire), pull out of the indicator globes (front corner is prob easiest), unplug the harness off the back of the switch & then probe the wires until you find the correct ones.

At least with this method you are guaranteed to find the correct wires. Diagrams & looms can change over the years.

Where is the hazard switch? Can't remember if its on the column also. Sometimes easier to connect there instead.

Ok great, I'll try those ideas. Hazard switch is also on the column, so if I splice into the positive wires from there I should be good hey...I think I'm confused about how those switches complete a circuit (and therefore which side of them I should hook into). I guess I'm trying to get the wires from the Central locking to complete the circuit when I lock or unlock, so I need to be downstream from the switch... Newbie auto electrics 101 I know!

Thanks for the answers
