Will heads from a 99 legacy work on the 2001 legacy?

I know the 01 has a 2.5 and my 99 heads are 2.2, but the 01 has bad heads and I have a brand new set of 99 2.2 heads sitting in my shop.

Yes. They are functionality identical but single port exhaust

So, this doesn't create a 'Phase 2 / II ' Frankenstein / Franken Engine w/elevated CR?

 

And since the HG needs to match the bore of the block, I'd look into using an '04-'07 STi HG....from what I've read online.
