power window motor replacement

Featured Replies

hey guys

I isolated why my pass side front window will not work---power is there so motor is shot

2006 forester

I was hesitant to do anything yet---still gotta get a motor from junkie

There are 2 10mm bolts  visible.......reaching inside it feels like 3 Philips screws==seems like a tough screws  to remove after being there

for 10 years----awkward spot to get to----

Will the window drop if I remove motor?

Whats the procedure to replace

thanks a million

bgambino,

Lots of YouTube videos on the topic, on all kinds of vehicles and yours will be similar. There was a free service manual download site for subies but it appears to be down at present, so I can't give you anything more specific.

I've done lots of these over the years, and they're all pretty much the  same, and aren't terribly difficult.

Yes, the glass will fall when you remove the motor, but often you need the glass partly lowered to get at the fasteners that attach it to the motor lift mechanism.

I changed the whole mechanism on our '05 forester, price differential was not great between new motor and whole mechanism.

I will need to do the pass window on that car soon, I might try just the motor since I happened into one.
