Dumb(?) 2nd Gen Seat belt question

Featured Replies

Are there any 3 point seat belt mounts for the rear seats in a 2nd gen wagon? If so, can I mount a couple front seat belts in the rear from, say a 2nd gen coupe? Thanks!

2nd gen wagons have a shoulder belt for the back seat (just lap belt for the middle). What exactly are you doing?

Really? Huh. I scrapped one years ago and all it had was lap belts in the rear. I did not know this. Of course, I've never owned nor driven one.

My coupe has anchor points in the c pillars, but is only equipped with lap belts. There were a couple countries that mandated 3 point belt systems front and rear back then. And Subaru being Subaru made all the chassis the same except for the firewall for lhd/rhd applications.

Oh wow I'm a dummy, this is the old gen forum, not the new gen.... I was thinking like a 95-99 legacy. sorry...

2nd gen is late ea81 chassis, right? I've never owned one of those.

lol Happens to me a lot in the morning after I get up. So Bratman, does that still apply to the wagons or are w still in unknown territory? Anyone got a wagon they want to pull the C pillar trim off and confirm?

Just pulled off the C-pillar trim of my wagon and there are in fact anchor points on each side.  I was just asking because I came across a set of front 3 point seatbelts and I figure it couldn't hurt to mount them in the back if possible.

I've been looking for a set to do the same with my coupe, I found the anchor points when I was replacing the rear window gasket. State law requires 3 point belts for child seats here, so I can't take both kids with me when I'm driving the car.
