Tseekins Posted October 4, 2016 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Anyone wish to compare this engine tot he 2.5L boxer? Obviously one is a GTDI and the 2.5 is an N/A engine but, how's the maintenance and longevity on the smaller boxer? I'm not concerned about GTDI as I have an Ecoboost F-150 with amazing results. Is the fuel economy disappointing or are there some inherent repair concerns? Truth be told, i don't need a turbo engine but the ecoboost has been invigorating to say the least. I know the NA 2.5 is one of CR's top-rated SUV's for MPG: CR Overall 26 mpg City 18 / Hwy 35 mpg The XT's CVT gets 23 City/28 Hwy/25 Overall from Cars101.com, (which sounds a bit optimistic?). C/D got 22 overall. Same engine is used in the 2015+ WRX, so may be worth a stroll thru the NASIOC.com website. Tseekins Posted October 5, 2016 Author Share Posted October 5, 2016 I've had my ecoboost long enough to know that gas turbos are savage performers but the MPG's may very lack from what the manufacturer states.
