November 20, 20169 yr What is the reputation of this timing belt for my 99 OBW?? Sold by Advance Auto Parts.
November 20, 20169 yr I recently put in a dayco timing kit in a 2006. The belt itself didn't fail ... the roller on the tensioner did , went 50 miles and seized ! MADE IN CHINA !!! Bent all the valves! I now will only put in a subaru belt or a belt & kit made in japan.
November 20, 20169 yr I have a Carquest Dayco belt in my EJ251. The idlers I used were GMB. I doubt the engine will last a full service interval, and I'll probably swap it with my EJ205 well before it quits
November 20, 20169 yr I'm not a fan of dayco belts. Lately it's getting hard to find timing kits that have good idlers in them. Gates kits on Amazon are around $100. A bit more with the water pump. NSK, Koyo, NTN are all Japanese and good quality. Gates tends to use these for the idlers and have seen GMB tensioners in them. For the one piece tensioners I would probably not even use the cheapie that comes in the kit. Get an Aisin or OE Subaru. I also use Aisin water pumps. Aisin is an OE supplier for many Japanese manufacturers.
November 21, 20169 yr The last gates kit I bought said Japanese made on the box for each roller and tensioner part number, but when I opened it and looked close everything was stamped China on the parts. I have gone with Aisin for everything. A little more money, but worth the piece of mind.
