December 17, 20169 yr Hello I need a little help. I'm working on rebuilding my EJ22t that come out of a 1992 Legacy. When I was putting on my new piston rings I noticed my compression ring was really loose. So I pulled out my calipers and measured my old rings. Turns out my oil scraper ring and my compression ring were the same thickness, so I'm assuming I need to get a set a rings that are 1.5mm 1.5mm 3mm. so I went online and all I been able to find are 1.2mm 1.5mm (3mm or 2.8mm) and the set that I all ready have is 1.2mm 1.5mm and 3mm, at this point I'm starting to feel like I'm going crazy. If you guys need pictures of anything just let me know and i will post them up. Thank you
December 17, 20169 yr Author I got EngineTech S96904 from rockauto.com http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/subaru,1992,legacy,2.2l+h4+turbocharged,1269592,engine,piston+ring,5640?a=Ad+Code+G-autoparts
December 17, 20169 yr NPR (Nippon Piston Ring) is the prefered brand for most Subaru rebuilders. Standard 2.2 rings will not be the same as the turbo rings, so double check the fitment guide to make sure you order rings for the 2.2T engine.
December 18, 20169 yr Author I went to http://1stsubaruparts.com/ and came up with the part number 12033AA210 found some NPR rings at https://www.carpartsdiscount.com/piston-ring-engine-set.html?3593=62163 now it doesn't say what size these are but I would bet that they are 1.2mm 1.5mm and 3mm rings and so far I ave not seen anything that says that the rings in the turbo are different then the ones in the naturally aspirated EJ22
December 18, 20169 yr 12033AA390 NPR number SWF20067 http://www.npramerica.com/attachement/usappilication/SUBARU.pdf You'll probably have to get in touch with an NPR supplier and special order them. I didn't find any place online selling them outright. Edited December 18, 20169 yr by Fairtax4me
December 21, 20169 yr Per Legacy777 on LegacyCentral: I'm assuming you've tried the local subaru dealers. Have you tried any of the online subaru dealers, http://www.subaruparts.com http://www.subarugenuineparts.com http://www.1stsubaruparts.com Other place you could try is crawford performance. They used to buy ej22t blocks, and would just use the blocks. A couple years ago I got brand new stock pistons. If they don't have any, they may be able to point you to some place that does have them. _________________ Josh Also try http://www.toplineauto.com/ And this USMB post has a similar/same catalog as Fairtax: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/137112-ej22t-piston-rings/ Edited December 21, 20169 yr by wtdash
