Crank, no start, with a twist.

Just the points:

Died on the highway and compression start didn't work. On the shoulder I tried starting. It cranks but doesn't fire. Now for the odd part, when I turn the key to off position and remove key, all lights (headlights, dash, tails, running lights) and radio stay on. It's not the switch on top of the wheel either. USB port also charges cell phone when connected. Again no key and ignition is in off/lock position. Only way to remove power is to disconnect the battery.

Next, checked for spark at the plug, none.

No pulse at the injectors either.

Already changed crank sensor, cam sensor, ignition switch, and tried with good ECU. Engine grounds are good as is battery connection wires. Timing and timing belt are both good as well.

It cranks but has no spark or fuel. I'm out of ideas here...

That's pretty weird. We're going to need Model and year, etc..

I can only guess, there are relays involved with some of this on the newer cars. Relays can stick and can fail in either state.

Could be a problem with the ignition switch?

Thinks it to be OFF when key is ON.

Thinks it to be ON when key is OFF.

Weird!

I changed the ignition switch out first. No change. The tumbler was not changed
