January 7, 20179 yr Have 88 DL Wagon, mileage not as it should be. Wondering if the Temp Sensor in the Radiator for electric fan has any Fuel/Air control thru the ECU, or is it for fan control ONLY???
January 7, 20179 yr That is just a thermo switch for the fan. The ECU uses a sensor, CTS mounted on the housing just below the thermostat on the intake manifold. It has 2 wires. The single wire one is only for the temp gauge. If the CTS is flaky, the idle speed.is usually messed up, as in high idle when up to temp, or no high idle when cold.
January 8, 20179 yr Change the O2 sensor on the exhaust system. That affects fuel/air ratios and gas mileage. It is cheap and fast fix and you have nothing to lose because you will have to change it sooner or later anyways.
January 13, 20179 yr Author Does there NEED to be any Back Pressure for the O2 sensor to operate properly? Clean Cat and Straight Piped!
January 13, 20179 yr Back pressure not requited. All the O2 does is adjust the fuel mixture, once the engine is up to normal operating temperature.
