January 30, 20179 yr I have a 1986 gl wagon , 4x4, 4 inch lift . 15 inch steel chevy redrilled rims . my struts keep blowing in 4k miles average driving . im using new gr2 gas inserts . my coil springs are stock and kind of weak . can a weak spring cause this .? I know a lot of Guys running a lot heavier tires than I am . This is the second set in less than 1 year 10k miles .
February 1, 20179 yr Author I am going to try the Jezek mod . kia sephia front springs , and new gr2 struts. getting expensive .
February 1, 20179 yr bump stops? I'm assuming they're bottoming out, and don't have bump stops. That's about the only thing that I can think of that would wreck them so quickly.
February 3, 20179 yr Author should I install the rubber bumper ? I would think with new heavier springs it would not bottom out.

You are correct, you probably won't need them with stiffer springs, but it's a good idea to prevent strut failure.
February 3, 20179 yr Author I think the combination of heavier tires , bad roads, bad springs , no rubber snubbers , and crazy teen drivers . caused them to prematurely fail . thanks everyone for the reply's..
