I have a 89 gl "touring" that's I converted to 4wd. Before anyone one says look for old post I did. I found one post would say one thing and another would say something different. I got my hands on a 95 legacy for 100 bucks and want to know can I use the running gear (motor,trans,suspension) on my gl? I know about the motor swap kits and about the xt cross members to run the trans but I'm in sure of the suspension. I know about xt6 suspension will swap but I've been looking all over and I don't want to buy a car just to swap the suspension and be stuck with a car. If anyone could chim in and help me solve this it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

I put legacy front clip on my 85 Brat, but of course I had to modify a bit and of course it widened the front of the car by 2 inches on both sides but I just put spacers on the rear to correct that. For $100, snag it dude. Well worth it and if the parts you have won't fit for what you need you can see them to guys on here and get the ones you need.

There are a number of recipes for a 5-lug swap that can use EJ front suspension/brakes and EJ rear brakes (although that '95 likely has rear drums). But you'll also need XT6 parts to do it.

I want to lower it a bit and get it show worthy. Motor swap it and bump the power up some that's why I want to put the ej tranny in and bump up the suspension/brakes. I got plans to make adjustable rear trailing arms the front I wanted to leave all the front stock but make an adjustable top plate.

Anything that says "GC8 Impreza" on there can come from any EJ car

 

 

The oversimplified list is XT6 control arms, EA81 tie rod ends, and then you can use EJ suspension assembly from ball joint to strut top, including CV axle.

 

For the rear, you'll need XT6 hubs, and then you can run XT6 brakes, or EJ (redrill the EJ backing plate).
