Any use for cracked EA82T heads?

Featured Replies

...or motor for that matter? I have an EA82T engine sitting in my garage. It supposedly had a blown head gasket, but it looks like whatever happened, it was driven into the ground until it couldn't run anymore. Both heads are severely cracked between the valves and the block is seized up, the PCV bungs are caked full of crud. What, if anything can I salvage from this old monster for my EA82 SPFI?

Cam Carrier? Valve Covers? Oil Pump?

Any market for stock EA82T cams?

I'm trying to clear out my garage and don't want to keep a hulking pile of crap if I don't need to.

Thanks for the info!

Alot depends on if it was starved of oil, if so, then most load bearing oiled surface might have been damaged. If not, the there are several internal component that might be salvageable, like crank, rods, cams, .... On the cams, it really depends upon the year of the engine, there was a change to the profile in 87 that gave them better performance, so pre 87 would be less desireable.

Now for some imaginative ideas, the whole engine could be used as a boat anchor, the heads could be cleaned and polished and used as door stops or paper weights, or you could clean and polish the entire engine, build a stand and add a thick clear or smoked lexan sheet on top for a novelty livingroom coffee table.

If no one else wants the items you wish to clear out...id like to have them....I am wondering how much the shipping would cost tho....as that is what would holdme back....seeing as i am broke and no job now. :-\

Not sure there's going to be much left ;). Anything that I can use on my SPFI, or is in good enough shape to keep for a later turbo motor, will go up on the shelves in the garage. I'll let you know if anything changes.

clean up the block and heads paint them and use it as a mailbox post
