1995 Legacy manual shifter linkage part number(s)?

Featured Replies

Hi,

For a few months now, the stick shift in my '95 Legacy wagon has had tremendous side to side movement. It _will_ shift gears but finding the gear I want can, sometimes, be "iffy".

I'm 99% sure the shifter linkage bushing are gone, based on what I've read in other places.

My problem is - I can NOT find a part number for either a new linkage or replacement bushings! (Ok, I haven't bugged Ye Local Subaru Shoppe but that's my last resort.) Linkages for '95 Imprezas or '96 Legacys? No problem. For a '95 Legacy? No luck!! I think I found a place in Australia with bushings for the '95 Legacy, on eBay, but *$%!! they want almost $100 to ship it!

If it helps, my VIN is: 4S3BK6357S6351680

Many thanks for your help!!

Joe

This is the official Subaru of America parts website. They do not sell parts. Take the numbers to your local dealer.

If some are discontinued you have have to upgrade the linkage to a later model year. It's all interchangeable - you can use WRX parts, Kartboy short shifters, etc.

Thanks, guys! That's very helpful! :)

At least I've got a starting point. Not hard to find the linkage for a '96 Legacy. Maybe I can scavenge enough bits out of the '96 to work.

I'm not completely surprised there aren't similar applications for the same/similar parts (Subaru is a smallish company). Finding "workable" parts could be interesting. Hadn't considered swapping the whole shift mechanism out.
