Piston rings

Featured Replies

So I put a engine in a car for my sister, and after firing it off it got the normal white smoke on initial start off and burnt it out like I normality do. but after sitting a couple of days I go to fire it off again and I get the smoke (what I thought was steam) figuring a head gasket failed, I pulled the engine and the heads to my surprise it’s a bit of oil in the cylinders.

I pulled the pistons out and the oil rings are not springing out like they should ( I can slide the piston back in up to the second compression ring) so my question is: can I clean the pistons up or do I need to get a new ring set... and if I do what is the best inexpensive set out there I’m having to do this on a budget.
