Which way are the strut tops on a 93 Impreza supposed to be orientated when installed on the car?Is there a mark or tab that is supposed to point in some direction or does it even matter?

doesn't matter if they are factory tops.

 

some aftermarket tops are "offset" for camber change but the stockers are symetrical

strut bearing mounts?

 

or the upper spring 'seat'?

 

there's usually an arrow or hole that points outwards (towards the fender)

 

also, the washer at the top must have the bevel/cone side against the bearing.
