HI all, a friend pointed out a wire going to the carby on my '84 Brumby, what does it do??

Electric choke if equipped, or idle stop/anti-diesel solenoid are the only two I can think of on an EA81 carb.

Ta, the friend has a beach-buggy thing made out of a cut-down and shortened Brumby, he said it doesn't have that wire and it won't idle for long before cutting out.

if friend has original Hitachi carb on it and has solenoid screwed in the upper section, just give it 12V off ignition and see if that fixes his problem
