I've bought this gc8 ej 20 litre none turbo with an ej25 turbo it was swaped before I bought it is there any way of telling what car this motor is out of e.g. wrx sti /forster

Have you asked the previous owner about what the engine came from? 

Otherwise pics might help identify the model the engine may have come from.

Look for the punch / serial number. There’s one right above the crank and one on the back on the engine bellhousing. Should be able to track from there.
