Headrest release...mine seem frozen.

Featured Replies

Sooo...Anyone out there who may be able to clue me in on how to release my headrests?...mine seem frozen and I have new seat covers to install. Thanks for all suggestions.

Front seats - there’s a button on one of the base plates the head rest slides into. Press on this and pull the head rest out.

Rear seats (wagon) - same mechanism, but it could be on the underside of the back of the seat in the cargo/luggage area - I can’t remember exactly though.

I hope this helps!

Cheers

Thanks for that info, el_freddo. I have an '84 GL wagon. Only the fronts have head rests and I only see holes, but no base plates, that the two rods of the head rest go into on the top of the particular seat. Other brand cars usually respond to a yank or hard push, but not this one.
