Harmonic balancer

Featured Replies

I have a 95 legacy wagon 2.2 Manual 325000 miles.  The harmonic balancer bolt came loose (my fault).  Did not come completely off.  Disassembled checked sprocket installed new belt. Reassembled and engine doesn't vibrate but harmonic balancer looks as if it has a wobble at idle.  Not sure if is going bad or am I paranoid. Under load looks fine. Ideas?

How was the Key?

Torqued to 125 ft lbs.

The rubber could be going bad and the center hole could be reamed out from the bolt being loose. Had it happen on our 95. I replaced ours with a new Dorman part from a local auto parts store and it works good.

Remove it and look at the center hole for ware from the Key like in the picture. The Key is hard and normally does not ware, but it will chew up the pully.

Maybe someone knows of a good one that is cheaper, but this is what I used. First Dorman in the list.

RockAuto also stocks replacements. not sure if theirs are any better or not, so do your homework before buying, but they do have a couple that are cheaper.

I had the bolt come loose on my old 89 GL wagon.. while on vacation away from home, LOL

If you need a replacement I have some.  I'm in Colorado Springs, CO and can put it in the mail.
