This car is a 93 Legacy wagon and it was painted three weeks ago, the guy did had to replace the rear trunk door and probably did a bad electrical job.

 

what should i look for to fix that?

 

it looks like it works inverse, it shows a open light when it is close and off when it is open

 

Pull the rear plastic inner panel off.  You wll see the latch in the center.  There are a couple of wires there.  The wiring from the FSM is good.

You might also want to talk to the fellow that did the work and see how he replaced the rear hatch.
