Wiper Washer Issues

Featured Replies

I have a 99 Legacy Outback that I just acquired and one of the several things I’m working on is the washer system … neither the front or rear worked when I got it so checked and verified fuses and then bench tested the pumps. The front was ok, but the rear failed. I cleared the lines for the front, cleaned the nozzles and now it’s working ok. I blew air through the rear line and had fluid shooting up the back glass so looked like a new pump should fix that. I installed a new pump and still inop but can hear the pump running ok. I disconnected the line and blew air through it again but now nothing comes out. I tried to blow air back through the nozzle but the anti-syphen valve prevents that … anyone else been through tracing rear washer hose blockages? Alldata doesn’t show the routing or connections …

Thanks in advance!

i believe that the rear washer line runs along the door sill on drivers side - inside the cabin, under carpet/trim... it enters the tailgate in the upper left corner

i would start checking at the point where it enters the tailgate.. there is a rubber boot that the hose runs thru.. pop that loose and check the hose for breaks.

I can confirm, at least in my '95 it does run inside the cabin under the carpet and door sill trim along the drivers side.
