Hear me out: have you tried starting the car in neutral, putting your foot to the floor on the gas pedal for about 3-5 seconds and then selecting drive or reverse? I've done it several times on these machines, they seem to like it!

Also on a side note, the LSi is the model with that sexy air suspension?! Very cool.

Those only came on very early 90's Legacy's.  None after 1994.
