dave valiant
I just put a new clutch cable on my 88 GL wagon 2WD.I was wondering if anyone knows how to properly adjust it?It is shifting smoothly but I am curious if there is a proper amount of pedal height to have.Thanks,Dave. theDirtyRue
Dave, first off, you have to disengage the release lever return spring. The spring is located on the drivers side right in front of the master cylinder. You can use a pair of needle nose pliers to get it off. Next you have to find the two nuts on the end of the cable at the release lever. its located under the spare tire. It will be easier if you take out the arm thing thats holds the tires heat shield. Back off the smaller nut (the first one, its a locking nut) and then turn the adjusting nut to bring release lever freeplay. The specs from my haynes manual say that the pedal play is 10-20 mm or .39in to .79 in. It's very simple. Shouldnt have any problems, unless I screwed up explaining it. Good luck,
