  1. Here is the link to the short article I found on Top Gears page. http://www.topgear.com/us/blog/more/subaru-quits-wrc/ I dont know what to say!
  2. I am looking for an engine for an 02 Forrester, and wondered if you were still in the salvage business. If you could shoot me a quote if you have one I would really appreciate it.

  3. New windshield for the OB tomorrow morning. This thing is going to awesome!

  4. THE OUTBACK LIVES! Heck Yeah! if you head this way I'll show you Mt Rushmore Crazy Horse and falling rock. The hills here are pretty neat.

  5. 3 more days and the outback will be done! Then I get to start working on the GL again. That thing is a never ending fight.

  6. That is exactly what he is intending to do. If he screws it up and I get I plan on selling the turbo block and throwing in an na engine. The car is super clean.
  7. A friend of mine has Legacy turbo wagon that the keyway on the crank for the harmonic balancer is all screwed up and the balancer wont stay on. His plan is to weld it on, which I told him was a bad idea, and if that doesnt work is going to sell it for scrap. Is the engine worth anything like this and does anyone know if na and turbos engines use the same crank shaft?
  8. Well it has the HG issue and a very experienced mechanic had commented that it sounded like it had piston slap as well. I really am not at all concerned about power, my daily driver is an 87 gl spfi. The 2.2 is low mileage and it will cost about the same as buying the HGs and having the heads checked and milled.
  9. I found a 98 2.2 litre for a good price and was wondering if anyone knows if this is a direct bolt in or do things need to be modified like mounts or ecm or anything really. I want to replace the 2.5 in my 98 outback with it.
  10. Last time I replaced a clutch cable I had the same problem. I figured it out when I saw that I did not have the lock nut tightened enough and it wiggled loose. My wagon did not have a clutch return spring.
  11. I have to agree with you 100% on this one. I dont need AWD or 170 hp. I would happily buy a small 4wd that only made 100 hp brand new. I want efficiency and practicality and dont really care if the honda next to me can blow my doors off.
  12. It runs great right now, it just has a nasty habit of getting hot fast. It gets hot intermitintly every now and again. I have replaced the thermostat with a genuine Sube unit and still get the occasional overheat. When it gets hot I will pull it over and let it cool off. I have never pushed it while it is hot. I am going to pull the heads have them checked and put a stright edge on the deck. I am also going to throw a new WP and T belt while I am at it. Thanks for the advice everyone. Dave
  13. Well that sounds pretty serious so I am going to take it to a buddy who has a machine shop and have him check the whole thing out. Thanks Nipper
  14. I have a 98 outback ej25 that has gotten hot a couple of time due to what I believe to be a bad head gasket. My plan is to pull the engine do a complete reseal and have the heads and block checked for warpage. The question I have is how strong is the bottom end of the ej 25? I dont want to have to do a complete rebuild if I dont have to. The engine has 182,000 miles on it. Opinons appreciated.
  15. I work in a tire shop and can say that as far as wear and balance goes its Michelin all the way. I have the Michelin Weather Wise II on my 87 and when the BFGs wear out on my Out Back I am going to put them on it as well. I would recomend avoiding the BFG Traction TA. We have to warranty them constantly due to seperation and excessive tread wear. The GoodYear Triple Treads are a very good tire as long as you rotate them regularly.
  16. I know this is a really old article, but they said the Tercel was more fun to drive than the RX!? I have driven Tercels and a couple of old RXs and there is no comparison.
  17. I always replace mine when they start to crack. I just dont like the idea of getting stranded and belts are cheap and easy to do.

  19. Thanks for the input, but both hoses are new and completely clear of any obstruction.
  20. I have an 87 Gl Wagon that has oil in the air cleaner box. I recently did a tune up and replaced the PCV valve at that time. I figured I might have gotten a bad one and replaced it again. I am still getting oil in the air box and am considering going with an open breather and plugging the PCV hole in the intake. I would run a turbo catch can to try and keep things a little cleaner. My questions to everyone out there that is smarter than I am is would this work. I live in a state that does not have vehicle inspections so I have no issue with that.
  21. Would you be willing to sell templates for the conversion? I am ready to get rid of my ea82. I was considering putting an ea81 in it but the carb ej sounds like a way better way to go.
  22. Good video. I always turn the heater on when the temp starts coming up to see if I get any warm air. Warm air means flow.
