July 30, 200421 yr I have heard the older impreza coilovers can be made to work. Not 100% positive though. Will know for sure in a month or 2
July 30, 200421 yr Author just to clear things up, i have a y2k impreza 2.5rs. i think that the shocks should fit any impreza from 93-2001
July 30, 200421 yr If you have the stuff, why are you asking.. Get out there and TRY it!!! and report back.
July 30, 200421 yr Author i dont have the tools to get the spings out, i think i need a compressor for that. and an extra set of handswhy couldnt you guys be out here on the east coast? to be more specific, maryland?
July 30, 200421 yr You will need a spring compressor to get the srings off the struts, but those can be rented from autozone for $40.. and you get all $40 back when you return the compressor. C'mon down here. Pull it into my garage and we'll get it knocked out in a couple hours.
July 30, 200421 yr Author i wish, the car isnt registered yet, i dont have the gas money, and i dont have time due to school. i htink that you can buy the compressor for like $20 at most parts stores.
July 30, 200421 yr The stock impreza springs are pretty soft really, I swapped mine for prodrive without a spring compressor. Just hold the strut bottom between yer feet and put a little downward pressure on them. Now, if your talking 500ft/lb springs, that's when cheap compressors are asking for a spring upside yo grill....
July 30, 200421 yr Author i think that most aftermarket springs are up ther around 4-500 pounds or so. at least the coil overs can be compressed, so to speak, by just winding em down all the way. that should make it really easy to install, first though, i need an inspection so i can get it tagged and on the road. once i get through inspection and emissions, i am going all out on the rx:D .
