August 1, 200421 yr I am going to replace the engine in my Brat tat's getting lifted, and I was wondering if the best time to install the lift was before during or after I get the engine in. I am going with a straight ea81 swap, nothing special. Thanks for the help
August 1, 200421 yr Seems like a lift would be easier to put in while no engine was in because of less weight... etc but thats just my 2 cents.
August 1, 200421 yr It doesn't really matter much frankly. Yes there will be less weight on the cross-member, but that will be held up with a jack anyway. The only thing that comes to mind that would be slightly easier is the steering shaft extension. But even that isn't hard with the engine in place. GD
August 1, 200421 yr If your going to have the engine out, it will make the front alot easier to install. You could get to the crossmember blocks alot easier, and ensure they're tight. I'd advise using some Lock-tite on the threads for your lift. That way they dont rattle loose. -Brian
