I was towing two cycles on a trailer behind the Forester over the weekend. Everytime I got on one of those long hills the heat gauge would shoot up!

I ended up turning off the A/C and having to run the heat to keep it below the red.

Air temp was low 90's

Are Subarus (Foresters) susceptable to overheating just towing a small trailer up some grades?

Is this common?

On the return trip temp was mid 60's and the heat gauge didn't budge from it's normal spot?

What's Red line waterwetter

Redline water is a additive you can put into your cooloing system that spose to keep the temps around 20 deggres cooler.

I acully wouldent expect the car to get hot pulling a light load (under 1500 pounds) to cause the car to over heat. Ive town loads of 1800 pounds with 5 people in the car with no over heating problems on a hot day in a 1 gen legacy auto. But I never went up a long steep grades.
