engine swap

Featured Replies

will a ej22 fit down in against the ea82 trans i know wiring will have to be dealt with the motor i can get is a 91 legacy to be put in a 91 loyale

yes it will. try a serch for engine swaps or anything with EJ22 and EA81 or 82 in the same thread.

You'll need an adapter plate to make an EJ bolt up to an EA engine

I'm considering the same swap. The flywheel neds modification, I think, and I was considering mounting the EJ22 computer in a waterproof box in the engine compartment. I could prewire everything, have the appropriate leads for the dash left out, snatch the EA out, pop the EJ in and hook up quick. Maximum preparation means minimum downtime equals maximum fun. I'm stripping a GL, so I'm going to get everything perfect withe the GL's drivetrain parts before I touch the loyale. The EJ would be coming out of an auto 2wd 92 legacy. I have a milling machine and lathe, so making adapters for the engine mounts and bellhousing should be easy.

Too bad you are on the east coast, next weekend at the WCSS 6 (West Coast Subaru Show) there are suppose to be two EA82 series cars that with have EA82 series trannys and EJ series engines.
