FREE TURBO for me!

Featured Replies

Ya! some random local I met at a outside concert two Saturdays ago gave me a '83 turbo wagon! It ran like crap so his mother-in-law put a reman. turbo unit on and it still ran like crap so he says "tow it away and it's yours"! I picked it and a signed title up today. It starts but won't stay running, normal rust for this area, auto with power steering and AC. The trans and steering rack are going, I've got a 4spd D/R and a manual rack that are going in and the AC will be converted to on board air in the Brat. YA FREE SOOBS RULE!!!!! :headbang: :headbang:

Check to make sure the PS pump isn't the culprit - the EA81T's use a version of the EA82 PS pump, but I have seen the EA81T pump fail. The EA82 pump will bolt right on, and might solve your problem there. Also check the u-joint in the steering linkage - I've had the freeze up from rust and I ended up rebuilding the PS rack becuase I *thought* the rack was bad. The EA81 PS racks are real tough, and I have a hard time beleiving it's bad.

Huck the trans, but at least try to repair the PS - it's VERY nice, and doesn't rob any power to speak of.
