Pictures of Alternator Replacement

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I know a few of you were wondering about the alternator install, well, here they are!

Click me!

I hear you on the weird looks! It's the only attraction of not having a garage to do it in :-)

If you live near the central valley (in communist held california) I'd be happy to let you use my pressure washer :)

If not, are there no self car wash places near you?

Great write up. :) Me and 2 of my friends got some serious looks when we changed the water pump in a mustang in the parking lot of a gas station.

Never get an alt from the salvage yard. I went through 4 (in 2 weeks) untill I finally broke down and bought a new one from Advance for $120.00. It's cool though because the yard gave me my lift coils for my jeep for my trouble. Saved me about $120.00 Needless to say I am a happy man. Except for thatr darn knock sensor getting wet and giving me a CEL.

Each time I wet my engine, usually from spray washing the engine, my CEL comes on but it would go away after the engine is dry, usually a hour or two of driving. Is this CEL a tribute to my old knock sensor (the gray connector one as indicated elsewhere)? If it is the newer one (white connector) then I wouldn't have this CEL even when the engine is wet, correct?
