September 22, 200421 yr Can someone please tell me the lengths of the front Axles on an EA81 compared to the EA82s? and are the EA82T axles really any stronger?? thanks guys -Mike
September 22, 200421 yr I can't be sure, but I believe the EA82 axles are longer than the EA81s. The true EA82T are supposed to be stronger. You can tell the difference by the raised ring on the axleshaft itself; 2WD is one ring; 4WD is two rings; and turbo axles are 3 rings. This only tells you which is which; don't have a clue as to which are stronger. Can someone please tell me the lengths of the front Axles on an EA81 compared to the EA82s? and are the EA82T axles really any stronger?? thanks guys -Mike
September 22, 200421 yr Turbo axles will not fit on a non-turbo car. the inner cup spline count is different. I think you can change the inner cups to match your tranny. the outers are the same I believe. The shaft is a lot bigger than the others.
September 22, 200421 yr Funny that they would make the shaft bigger, when all the failures I ever hear of are cv explosions or splines stripping (well they addressed that problem)
September 22, 200421 yr Author Stubshaft issue isnt a problem for me, the tranny is apart, and I have a set of both turbo and non turbo stubshafts, I just need some lengths, cause I am redesigning the front suspension and kicking out the front wheels a few inches to compensate for camber problems.
