Stripped thread in GSR head

Featured Replies

We have a stripped spark plug hole and are having a heli coil put in. I have another head but it will be a pain in the but to have to change them. Do heli coils last or is it a temperary fix only.

I do beleive they last for the long haul. You are replacing the aluminum threads with steel.I have heard of people having entire aluminum engines helicoiled for the strenght advantage.Dave.

oh yea, a heli coil is way stronger then the standard alluminum threads, you will be hard pressed to strip that out, possible, but you'll reallllly have to work at it

Yeah I had one of my spark plug holes heli-coiled when my old GL wagon ejaculated a spark plug.

Thing ran fine afterwards.
