Dead Miss!!! (sometimes)

Featured Replies

90 Legacy, Auto, non-turbo. After I drive awhile and get the car good and warm, then park it for 45 mins or so it will drop a cyl. on restart sometimes. Not all the time it's very intermitant. I have replaced the plugs and wires ran injector cleaner checked for codes, Nothing . It only does it when hot, no engine noise, starts right away so it's doesn't seem to be a fuel pressure problem. I did manage to get it to do it once while I was home so I started pulling plug wires off and found that #1 didn't make any difference. The only thing I can think of is an Injector starting to flake out, any other ideas???

Thanks..........Jeff

I think your has a multiple coil does it not? If so I think if only one is not fireing that would not be the problem. My money would be on a plug wire or the injector.

My '90 legacy has done something similar thing before - I also replaced plugs and wires only to find out it was a plugged injector. My fix was easy - just a can of Seafoam in the tank and drive it. Fixes it every time - it happens every year or so. In my case it was amazing, pour the stuff in and drive off with it missing like crazy. In about 5 minutes it started smoothing out and after 15 was totally gone. Might be worth a try. Dave.

Yep, i've ruled out plugs and wires because I replced both and it still does it. When it is missing it's running on 3 cyl's. then it will clear up. I have run Redline Injector cleaner thru it, after that is when this started.

on Internet Explorer seach and there it was.

LOL I just went to Auto Zone and there it was!! It seems to work really well, The Subi is idling much better.

sometimes when you put in cleaner it can turn deposits to sludge and clog an injector.

The redline could have loosened some sludge that clogged your injectors, and it could be as simple as replacing ignition wires with a faulty one. It happens! Sometimes coils can act up once the engine becomes hot, but usually this just shuts the whole car down. Good luck.

Have your sensors checked and trouble codes or you could be wasting money. Trying to figure a missing engine can lead you in the wrong direction and cause you to replace things that don't need to be replaced.

I've checked for ECU codes all are OK. :headbang:

It finally had the missing problem while I was at home!!! I got out the engine manual & the multi meter and found out it was a bad fuel injector. #1 cyl.
