November 3, 200421 yr Hello all! Long long time lurker first time poster. I have a question. I purchased my 01 leg gt brand new in 01. I have noticed that all the tires I put on the car has this horrible wear on the inside of the tire. I thought it was the alignment at first but when I brought it in for an alignment they said it was dead on. Is this a normal thing with the the 00-04 leg's? I have put three sets of tires on the car and none of them last longer then 33k with a 60k tire. Thanks!

I have put three sets of tires on the car and none of them last longer then 33k with a 60k tire. Thanks! I am glad that you posted this because I thought I was the only one having this same problem. I ended up paying $$$ for several alignments and a third set of tires (just like you) in 50000 miles in 2000 legacy. My tire mechanic blamed AWD for this, but the consensus on this board is that AWD is not hard on tires. Most of miles on my car (acctually, my wife's car) is in low-speed city driving interrupted by high speed, high load hwy (~40% miles) with occasional towing in summer (5-10% of miles; ~2000 lbs). One thing I regret is that I did not venture outside the bridgestone tire word: I had RE92 (terible, stock), followed by RE910 (so, so), and RE950 (much better but unidirectional). Two more things: hot climat (south US) and poor MPG (16-25), could that be a key? Lets hope we get informative responses this time.
November 4, 200421 yr My $0.02... Many so called "alignment" specialists only check toe. And some go as far as checking caster.... not all mechanics will check or correct the camber even if it is out of limits... My SVX was just aligned by a reputable shop due to the same findings you have with your tires. My tires looked like I had been driving in a circle for 60K miles. Like new on the outboard area and down to the minimums on the inboard. (like yours). Toe and caster was dead on, but the camber was a bit off on both front corners. I use a custom set-up for my 96 Impala... 26K miles and no signs of ware. Maybe the factory settings are not optimal for tire wear..? Bottom line, use a reputable alignment shop and rotate / balance at 5k mile intervals.

The first 2 alignments did not help the crooked wheel. I took it to another mechanic, and he got the alignment correct. He told me that there was not a camber or castor adjustment on the wheels. I can't remeber which one. I thought this was odd, but then again he corrected my problem so I wasn't going to push the issue.
