Brake Parts

Featured Replies

I've got an 01 impreza OBS 5speed 78,000 miles that is getting close to time for new brakes. I've still got the OEM ones on there, they are alright but not great especialy with towing a good sized sail boat. What kind of brake parts do you guys use? I was looking at EBC green stuff pada and EBC rotors on Tirerack.com, they look pretty expensive but if these will either last longer or stop better i'd pay for them. I've heard brembo rotors are good too I think? Anyway i just wanted to get some general oppions about bake parts to use. Thanks!

Advance Auto Chinese rotors and Wearever pads.

I use Auto Zone rotors and their Albany semi metilac pads, the pads work better on my mail Rt. car then the O.E.M. pads. I think these pads are made by bendex. Rotors are around 30.00 each and set of pads are around 20.00.

Alright goten down to:

Rotors: Subaru- $108/set or Brembo- $102/set or EBC Groved $186/set

Pads: Subaru- $55/set or EBC Green Stuff $71/set

Which will last longest??? Which will stop the best???

Just word on the street from what I've heard, but don't waste your time with EBC pads...rotors are ok, but don't get the pads.

Stay AWAY from EBC pads. They will produce brake judder. Every time.

EBC rotors are a good thing, though. Get them and stick with OE pads. You will be surprised by how much better braking you get due to the grooves. They keep the pad surface clean and ready, and when you really start to use the brakes, they let the gas of out pads.

Or if you can get them, Mintex M1144 pads are serving me very well. I have been though the EBC mill, and please take my advice to stay away!
