November 29, 200421 yr Happy belated Thanksgiving to all. Just when I was feeling great about fixing my windshield wiper problem, thanks to this forum, another more serious problem has come up. The rear tail light and front turn signal lights won't turn off:banghead:. Key is off, engine off, headlights off, but running lights won't shut off. Only when I pull the fuse will the lights go out. Any suggestions before I take it to an auto electic company on Monday? 1998 Outback legacy wagon.
November 29, 200421 yr Check the "P" switch on the top of the column. That switch turns on the parking lights by themselves. (No it is not the hazard lights, that is the push button on the dashboard with two red triangles, one inside the other. . .)
November 29, 200421 yr Author Thanks for the help. I guess I have lived in Alaska so long I have "frost bitten" brain. My son, who usually knows even less than I know about cars, suggested I check to swith on the steering colunm. I hardly ever drive this car and totaly disremembered about that switch. I spent all day detailing the interior and must have hit the switch. All is well now. Thanks again for helping this frequently "lost" Alaskan.
November 29, 200421 yr No problem. I only remember that switch because it is the same place that a lot of cars put the hazard lights (4 way flashers), so it was unusual. . .
December 2, 200421 yr Hmmm, Another reason to put a FAQ here or pehaps a sticky topic. 3 issues repeat themself almost daily: 1. Tourqe bind. 2. HG issues. 3. Park lights switch. There might be more frequent questions.
December 2, 200421 yr Actually there is a link at the top of the page for a FAQ page. . . Now if there was some actual content in there it would be great. . . I suspect that the content from the FAQ section went *poof* for some reason.
December 4, 200421 yr Same issue with the Forester. I unknowingly hit the P switch driving one night to experience the same result. This is a great forum!
