An 85 4wd D/DR wagon just popped up for sale here locally for $200. The current owner states that the tranny is cracked, which he was told by the mechanic he takes it to.

 

Is it common for DR tranny's to crack, and if so where is the place where they commonly crack? Just so I know where to look for the crack.

 

I am hoping to take a look at the vehicle tonight.

A crack in the transmission cas i quite rare, unless it's be caused by an accident.

never saw a sube tranny crack.

I have seen a turbo 4wd eclips tranny crack....300 miles from home.... at night. ivory soap, duct tape and 4 qts of thick oil. It made it..... barely. only three gears were left by the time it got home.

 

found out it had just been welded up a week before.

dont evin bother tring to fixit if its cracked just get a new(used) one.
