High beams but no low beams?

Featured Replies

My hatchback has some sort of eletrical gremlin that is stumping me. The headlights will only come on if you have the high beams on. When you flip the highbeams off, all the lights go out. I've checked all fuses and even replaced the turnsignal/highbeam unit on the column. Still no luck.

This is on a GL with the 4 square headlights. I'm running it right now with the outer 2 lights unplugged so I don't blind people at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check main wiring from ignition switch to bulkhead harnness, the first large white connector from key switch maybe a meltdown?

Start simple

Here is a possibility

one low beam burned out and you didn't notice it.

some time later the other low beam burns out.

You could use a pair of clip leads and test the lamps.

All four lights come on when I have highbeams switched on.
