service manual ?

Featured Replies

Hey all, can anyone give me a reccomendation for a good service manual? Looking for one to cover my '93 Loyale, but I'm not sure what's good and what's not.

Also, do they have wiring diagrams in them? Having major electrical probs.

Thanks.

Factory service manual is the way to go.. Especially if you are having wiring problems.

Chiltons, haynes, HTKYSA... all suck at the wiring

I second that.

I have almost every publication for my Soob, and NONE of them are worth their weight in dirt save the FSM, for SMALL things, yes Haynes aren't too bad (Chilton's sucks), but for MAJOR issues or mods, a FSM is the only way to go.

So the how do you get your hand on a FSM and how much do they cost? The other day I was on Autozone.com and i found these 2 service manuals.

This one is for things like minor tuneups and is free to use but only limited to a few things, not usually many diagrams.

This link has quite a bit of stuff major overhauls w/ quit a few diagrams but costs some cash. when you go to the link you can check out some examples as to what they offer in the priced manuals. check it out. http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html

The cheapo ones (haynes and such) cost about $16 and can be found at your corner auto parts shop or bookstore. For a FSM watch ebay and it will show up eventually - probably about $50-$60. Direct from Subaru is about $200 if they have any available.

I got my 88 factory service manual for $40 shipped from a member of the board here.

Half.com

eBay.com

Amazon.com

Those are your best bets... Although if you have a used book store in your area, you may have some luck there as well.. I have found a few late 70s/early 80s FSMs at a big used book store baout 40 miles away.
