radio removal

Featured Replies

In my 90 legacy Im trying to get the radio assembly out, ive removed the 2 screws at opposite ends of the cup holder and it seems that the plastic trim/edge piece keeping everything in place is secured by 2 more screws somewhere. Does the plastic part simply snap off after removing those screws, or are there more i simply cant see.

6, actually. 4 that you can see, and two that are deeper (inset) between the top and bottom ones on each side.

i got all the screws out, should the entire radio assembly just pull out now?

Dang, you are in Springfield? where? I grew up there. . .

OK, I'm assuming you have the trim off and the 6 screws out. Now just pull it straight out and disconnect the two plugs in the back, then it is out.

Im in North Springfield, does Braddock road ring a bell?

Yeah, I lived within walking distance of Braddock and Backlick. Used to walk to the shopping center there. . . IIRC, it was called Bradlick Center.

yeah its still there, its changed a lot though

if you got the 4 screws next to the radio that hold it to the car itself you should be set....

I'm in Burke, let me know if you ever need a hand with anything...

If you have the radio/cassette combo, there are two more screws that are set back between the ones that you can see. There are six holding the unit in, three on each side. You need a full length philips to reach the back ones.

Those are the two that'll fall down by the air bag brain... careful.

Just did this gig... I found one of the two that dropped.

Later,

Peter
