February 2, 200521 yr I have an 86 gl-10 turbo auto and I believe that the ECU's between the turbo and non-turbos are interchangable....would this be the same for air flow meters
February 2, 200521 yr It should be because '85 and '86 turbo systems are identical, and I know the ecu's for the non-turbo and turbo 1985 soobs are identical. The non-turbo would have to be MPFI from an '85 or an '86, but I think they are.
February 2, 200521 yr if its a hotwire, any ea82, or an er27, it will fit, and work. if its a flapper system, run any flapper maf. no diff between turbo, na, or 6 cylinder

February 2, 200521 yr 85-86 maf for turbo and non turbo mpfi is the same. the only other MAF for that year is the 86.5 spdi, which will not work i believe ea81T (83-84) maf will work, since it has the vane style MAF and the MPFI system is very similar

No 6 cyl. flappers parts books huh... does it say that the fuel pumps are interchangable between any efi model? does it say you can put a spider intake on a flapper mpfi motor? does it say you dan rage an er27 in an 86 hatchback? didnt think so. miles pointed out the only exception afaik.
February 3, 200521 yr Forget "the book", my 1985 FSM has complete info for both systems, and the MAF is the same for both, in fact the computer is the same for both non-turbo and turbo cars, there is a difference in grounding of a pin so the computer knows what it is plugged into. It will be a vane - type system b/c it is 1986, so a vane - type MAF will work. The 85 and 86 cars are the same for the turbo system, remember this is a Subaru where almost everything is interchangeable, it will work.
February 3, 200521 yr Author "a difference in the grounding of a pin"...Is this something I need to be concerned about...for ex.... rewireing of connectors so as to get proper grounding..or is it just a matter of clipping the connector on...
