(1) What is the rotation direction of the front drive shaft? Lets say looking from the back of the rig toward input flange on the front diff, CW or CCW?

 

(2) If you use a Subaru rear diff up front, do you have to mount it upside down, or right side up and drive the gear set backward?

 

(3) Can you use the front diff from the truck? I know it will be a R180 or R200, but if you get one from a newer truck with independent front suspension and a matching ratio will it work? Will the output stubs match?

You mount the diff right side up, I don't recall the direction of rotation but don't worry it works just fine. The Tcase drives the diffs and the diffs drive the wheels all in the right direction. The stock front shafts plug right onto the BRAT rear diff you install in the front. You need to notch into the Xmember a few inches and weld in the "skull" portion of a BRAT rear diff carrier. The rear of the diff is supported by a strut welded to the hanger plate. The strut should run from one side of the lift subframe to the other. Replace the built in studs on the hanger place with bolts and nuts so that you can drop the bolts andthe diff is free to come away from the plate.

#1 The dirveshaft spins CW if you are looking from the back I believe like all cars.

 

#3 The eariler pickups that have a bolt in stub shaft, have the same spline count as the subaru ones and they will fit in. But the bearing race diameter is different(I have put the stubs in but never tried driving it). The main problem I see is finding one with the right ratio. I hear though that the actually shaft uses the same spline count as the nissian outer so just use our outer joints and the nissian shaft with inner joint and stub.

How about using the R180 front and rear? Then you'd have matching final drive gear ratios.
