need wiring help for an ea82t conversion

Featured Replies

hey guys its been awhile since ive been on here, heres my problem im trying to put a subaru ea82t into a volkswagen baja bug, and i cant find a good wiring diagram of the engine to ecu, if anyone knows where i can get something like a picture of the ecu with each connecter labeld and the same for the two harnesses that come of the engine that would be much appriciated, thanks Ty

Ty, you need to specify which fuel system

mass air flow monitor

your EA82T has.

Up to 1986 they had a vane style MAF

(also called "flapper door")

in 1987 they switched to a

hot wire MAF

the systems are different wiring wise

see recent post "EA82T"

its the hot wire style MAF, i took a look at the other post but those diagrams are near impossible to read

anybody have the 2 engine connecters pin out??:(

Hi guys. I am also wiring into a VW but mine is a Nova / sterling (Depending what part of the world your from :)). Thats great so far but I also need the engine side of that same diagram. Thanks Tom.

Tom, if you will read the entire thread you

may find this does not apply to your system

Working on the ther scans since no one

has come to the rescue

how about emailing me to save me uploading them

Good call 85Sub

page 159 of the part 2 download

says MPFI but is for the hot wire turbo also

(note the waste gate control duty solenoid)

well done sir.

Thanks guys but I still cant make it out. When you zoom in the writing just blurs. Tom

you dont realy need a diagram... seriously.

do you have the harness from the motor, to the battery?

if so, you have all the info you need.

the wire goin to the plus side on the coil, is also the on off for the computer.

black/white. stick that to the ignition switch + or the original +wire from your stock vw coil.

the big red wires, through the whole harness. they are power for the injectors and the computer. give that power all the time, with a fisable link, or a breaker.

the fuel pump wires. you can see where the old fuel pump plugged into the harness, i think its black and blue wires. those go the pump. you can hotwire that, or let the computer controll it(this is wher i cant remember the colors)

whats your mpfi harness from, an xt im assuming/hoping.

i think all of these wires come off of two main plugs, that go over towards the fuse box.

basicaly it should start when you put power to the black/white wire on the +of the coil, the big red wire, then hotwire the fuel pump. refine it after it runs =]

if i can find where i got my diagrams from, i will post them, but i think they have been deleted.

Unfortunatlly I have no wiring for the ECU. I am looking for an engine wiring harness but at the mo I have nothing.

sorry if there was some confusion but i dont have a complete in tact harness to the ecu, the harness off of the engien is complete with the connecter plugs but after that its cut, and cut again on the ecu side. thanks anyways though :)

if it was me... id be looking for that engine, to computer harness.... i may be able to find you one, within the next few days.

it would make things worlds easier for you. i just use that part, and tape off the wires i dont use.

if you want, i can check if one is available... cheap =]

Scan of the plugs is on the way to you.

Arche's idea is worth looking into.

Neuro - email me I'll see if I can get you the scans for

your system. Please tell me the type of MAF you have

or the year of the system.

that would be great achemides, and thanks skip, let me know if you find one as ive just about got the everything else done!! thanks Ty

Archamitis, Unfortunatly I am in wales UK so shipping my be pricey. But otherwise great idea as the engine is wired right up to the plugs but the previous owner just sliced the wires just after the plugs.

Skip, I have an '86 system if you have any more info I have a friend who is a whiz at electronics who can wire it all up for me. Thanks all Tom.
