93 impreza problems???

Featured Replies

impreza wagon, 140k miles, auto transmission, 1.8liter engine

I have a blown head gasket. There is also a jingle jangle related to the transmission the first few minutes of driving at lower speeds.

has anyone else had head gasket or transmission problems with this car. and was there more engine damage beyond having to change the gasket.

what's the highest mileage people have on the original engine and auto transmission for this car?

what is the avg cost of a rebuilt engine installed? rebuilt transmission installed?

feel free to post a repair history. the only repairs i have had to make were changing all the seals and gaskets, new timing belt, and water pump so far ($600).

what did it do when ur water pump went? any signs of it going bad? or was it a preventative repair

pm me back

Was the coolant system purged of air when they did the water pump? If not, this often causes the HG to go or what looks like a HG problem. Lots of folks get 200-300K on these motors.

my 93 awd L wagon went and is still goin at 180,000 and is just startin to use a little oil.

My 94 EJ18 in my 93 impreza ran 270k miles then then oil pump stopped working (I think) and my engine siezed no gasket problems that I am aware of
