Help I broke my oil pump!

Featured Replies

While uninstalling my oil pump I broke the casting or something. Is this fixable with some gasket sealant or am I doomed to buy a new pump????? HELP :banghead:

NOT an expert, and haven't looked at any of mine, but I think that is a pump-killer. I also have my doubts that your removing could have broken it (unless you were using a prybar). Unless I miss my lazy-a** guess, that is the mounting flange on the shaft-bearing housing (not what it is really called I am sure, but should be descriptive). Unless you strong-armed this to get it out, there may be even more internal damage that got you the broken flange.

Just my 2 cents, and ignore it if somone with more knowledge (or ambition  ) tells you otherwise.

eww... that doesn't look good. I think the only way you could trust it would be to get a new one....

that being said, you can probably get one cheap at a junkyard. I know the local one here has a couple that are easily accessable, if you want to go that route.

I am affraid that piece of your pump is Tango Uniform, it looks like it's time to hit the wrecking yard.

I broke one in a similar fashion last summer. You can probably just get that plate if the main body of the pump isn't broken.

Yeah I figured I needed a new pump after I heard it snap. Pnp is closed on Sundays here so I drove to Jibs house and pulled one off his parts wagon. The damn thing fell off in my hand. I have no idea why the pump on my wagon was so hard to get off. Oh well. It's now resealed and everything looks good.
