February 16, 200521 yr Quick question, The front ball-joints on my 93 impreza probably need to be replaced. They aren't making any noise yet but the grease bladders feel empty. I've heard that there is a way of refilling these as long as the bladders aren't broken. Or if I have to change them are their any aftermarket replacments that have grease fittings? Thanks Dave
February 16, 200521 yr I'd just replace them. They arent THAT critical of a part anyway; so if cost is the issue wait a month or two and save some pennies for them
February 16, 200521 yr There is a grease syringe for refilling CV joints and ball joints with grease.
February 16, 200521 yr There is a grease syringe for refilling CV joints and ball joints with grease. The ball joints for my 92 Legacy wagon cost me $50 online (for both). Better to just replace them. They are easy to replace as well. These are parts that may wear over time, and they affect your steering (how is that "not critical"?). Perhaps I'm overly picky on brakes and steering. . . I consider them to more important than being able to move at all (if you cannot stop, or you cannot steer, I don't care if you cannot go. . .). Mine were badly worn (I had just gotten the car), and fixing this was easy. Check yours out before you decide to replace them. If they are not worn, you can put more grease in with a syringe, to extend thier life. No matter what you do, they will not last forever, though.
