February 17, 200521 yr I have a 99 Forester S Auto(sadly) and im looking for a turbo kit not 22 psi or anything like 12-15 psi, i figure there should be one somewhere maybe something for another subaru that would fit? I have a trailer that i haul with my subbie and 165hp just is not cutting it. Thanks everyone.....
February 18, 200521 yr Without switching to a motor designed to run a turbo, you won't be able to run more then 4-5 psi. www.forcedairtech.com does sell some turbo kits, and I think there are some vendors on www.nasioc.com as well.
February 18, 200521 yr even at 4-5psi your shortblock wont take long to melt. cylinder walls are just too thin for a turbo kit i've NEVER seen a turbo kit 2.5 last Jamie
February 18, 200521 yr i've NEVER seen a turbo kit 2.5 last Your wrong....You can do it and make it last...the guy on here known as "subaru brat" had one on an RS and it went over 100k before he sold the car (he traded up to an STI). If you want to do it to tow....that in my opinion is another story. I don't care what anyone says....towing with a trubo is a bad idea. Matt

It is a VERY open deck engine. It's a way overbored 2.2 block and the head bolts are probably holding everything together. Towing with any turbo is not a great idea. I don't know how much you're towing, but I tow a 1,700 boat with my Forester with no sweat. If you need more towing capacity do it right and buy another car or truck.
February 18, 200521 yr Unless it says Cummins on it. No doubt!!!!!! I love towing with my cummins Dodge Matt

You CAN turbo kit the car. I never said you couldnt it will last, for a while. it will not last forever. it is not reliable. you WILL melt the block. no doubt about it a turbo kit costs $2-3k to install so if you feel like melting your money.. go for it. but it's not going to last . you'd be best off spending $5k and doing an engine conversion EJ20 or EJ22T cheers jamie
