August 27, 200322 yr I don't think so. I know in 84 2wd and 4wd had different size clutches. Also non-turbo EA82 2wd had a smaller clutch then 4wd EA82.
August 27, 200322 yr Author I know back in '83 they had smaller clutches on their 2WD EA81's. But I thought in '84 they put the larger clutch on all EA81's. -Brian

August 27, 200322 yr My 87 hatch didn't have the bigger clutch, but it was also an EA71... I am pretty sure that the 2WD didnt' have the bigger clutch, but you'll know when you pull the motor.
August 27, 200322 yr im might be wrong, but i thought that the ea81 had one clutch for the 2xs and the 4xs and the ea82s have one for 4x/turbo. and one for all the 2xs. and i thought the 2xs were the same from ea81 to ea82. its all about the tranny any one will fit on the motor, but the tranny spline is what makes it hard to use a 4x on a 2x
