BattleAxeT6
I have rust all in the top of my gas tank, and wanted to know if their was some quick fix?If I fill it up all the way and park on an incline it leaks gas. Also, in an unrelated subject does anyone rebuild carburetors for a decent price in the philadelphia area, or within driving distance. Or have a rebuilt subaru/weber carburetor lying around they wanna get rid of?Thanx alot
benebob
Hey Jason, Only real fix isn't a quick fix or a cheap fix. You could be like Hocrest and not fill your tank up the whole way. As for your carb. It really isn't that hard to rebuild it yourself if you got some patience and a few days. Can be done for like $30 or so and 3 hours for a novice. Otherwise get make a drive to Harry's or New Ringgold. You're bound to find a usable one for $10 or so. Oh yeah, my guess is you don't have a Carter/weber but rather a Hitachi carb. Carter/webers were kinda rare this side of the country.

thedoctor
About the carb, I hope it isn't a Carter/Weber. I have one and got a quote from the factory on a rebuild kit: $210, not for a rebuilt carb, for the kit. So far I'm keeping it alive with Seafoam and chevron techron every now and then. Ether is handy for real cold mornings.
BattleAxeT6
Yeah, My accelerator pump is bad, and I have to be real gentle with the throttle or it stalls. What I have been doing is filling the tank up around 80% everytime, but that gets irritating cause I feel like Im always getting gas now. I do have a second carburetor but I dont know what Kind of shape it is in. I guess I could always rebuild that one and then swap them, hmmmm..... Where would an oem carb kit be available at? Thanks for the 2 links with the rust solvent for gas tanks, but My holes are alot bigger then pinholes. Thanks for all the responses.
